If you're seeking a getaway that combines excitement and novelty, look no further than swimming with pigs in Exuma, Bahamas. Its such a fun experience that includes so much more than the pigs. We also got to experience stingrays, gorgeous views. and beaches as well as endangered iguanas.
What to Expect
You will arrive at the tour company and check in. Once everyone is there you will start on your journey. We weren't able to get in to snorkel at the reefs that day because the wind was too strong, but we did stop at that location and it was gorgeous and there were a lot of fish and marine life in the water. Along the way we would stop and they would give us the history of the islands and the people who live there.
Upon arriving at Pig Beach, you'll find a beach filled with friendly pigs eagerly waiting for your arrival. Your swimming adventure typically lasts 30 to 60 minutes before moving on to the next part of your excursion. During this time, you can feed, pet, and take countless photos with these charming animals.
We then got to climb to a top of a cliff with amazing views and got to see the blowhole. It wasn't a bad walk up, but you may want more than flip-flops on to get up there. We were able to relax on the beach and enjoy the view.
Our next stop was to see the Bahamian Rock Iguanas. Although I booked the excursion for the pigs, this was my favorite part! We were able to feed them, hold them and watch them explore the beach.
Remember, these animals are still wild animals. Keep a respectful distance if necessary, and follow your guide's instructions to ensure a smooth experience. *Ask me how I know. lol.
